So, I assume the opportunity in Ft. Dodge does not exist anymore?Huh
I know the Mayor there, Matt Bemrich, and posted on his Facebook site tonight about this.
I then read more and found out it has been purchased by a private person/company......
Let me know if this is dead in the water or not, I will jump all over it, if it is not.

I know the Mayor is all for a full size park there and knows it would bring in a lot of money for his area.

So feel free to contact him and ask what is going on cause right now we don't know. I know Troy H has tried to contact him and the company that owns the quarry. I heard a rummer that the atv group somehow got all the land that was opened up but not sure.

Troy H said there may be another opportunity to gain access to some private land in another part of Fort Dodge and is going to talk to the guy on Thursday.

Thanks,
Coleman

I received his reply today:

Matt Bemrich- "The land has not been purchased by anyone yet the corporation that does own it and the city are working on an agreement. It will take sometime to move this forward and I have mentioned your group to be contacted in regards to the future layout of the park and how we could include more uses."

Is anyone pursuing this at all, or is it a matter of waiting until they contact us??

More info:  I called another good friend of mine, Curt Oleson, who is on the F.D. City Council (4th term) and also on the board of "Community Visitors Bureau".  He told me that Helen Miller, an Iowa State Representive (I guess), is the one who got past the
liability issues to open the ATV park.  Curt O. said he would talk with Matt, the Mayor, again about the full size park idea.  Any ideas
or direction on this opportunity, please post up.

Thanks for contacting them and it sounds like we still have a chance. Troy H was told that for the land to be donated there had to be funds in place to get it going. We are looking at some different grants and funding options. The biggest hurdle will be that none of us have ever applied for any type of this funding so we will need help.

As for future layouts there are plenty of people that have been to parks all over the country that can help with the design.

Next time you talk to either Matt or Curt find out if it has been brought up at a city counsel meeting? If so what was the reaction? Would they like us to come up and talk to the counsel, show them who we are and what we are about? Also let them know about the funding issues and that we know they can't just give us money. If they can help with getting grants and money already out there that could speed things up.

Thanks,
Coleman

The Ft. Dodge Mayor, Matt B. said tonight that he would advise myself and Troy Hendrickson (JOCCI) when the next phase is
happening, for our input.  I am not really trying to take the lead here, or step on anybodies toes...., just being proactive.  I don't
have a problem meeting with them in Ft. Dodge at most any time.  I am a delegate with 4x4 Syndicate, so I should be at our next meeting to discuss this further.

I contacted NORA today regarding what is needed to gain their assistance in acquiring OHV land.  The lady (Aaron), put me into
Pearse Umlauf's voicemail.  He is out of town this week and she said he should return my call next week.
Pearse is the Founder and CEO of NORA.  It is nice to be directed to the top guy on my first call!

I will try to find out some sort of time frame on the Ft. Dodge land acquisition from the Mayor and Curt on the City Council.
